Root canal treatment

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that focuses on the inside of your tooth: the dental pulp and soft tissues surrounding the tooth roots. Damage to this system, including deep decay, cracks or gum disease, can result in infection or inflammation where the contents of the root canal area can be destroyed.

A root canal treatment is used to remove an infection from inside a tooth. It cleans the pulp of the tooth, which is the root canal. Root canal treatment can also prevent future infections in a tooth. Although root canal procedures can cause some discomfort, we strive to make you feel as comfortable as possible. The goal of root canal treatment is to save teeth and remove pain by treating existing infections and preventing recurring infections.

Root canal treatment process

Firstly, we will inject you with a local anaesthetic to numb the area so you won't feel anything. Next, we clean the area by removing the infected parts inside the root canal. Following this, we clean, shape and decontaminate the hollow area. Then, we fill the tooth with a rubber-like material, and an adhesive cement is used to seal the canals. Lastly, we seal the tooth with a filling.
